This is a project that allowed us to collaborate with one of the most prestigious architectural & design firms of USA: Skidmore Owings & Merrill (SOM).
Based on a SOM’s requirement, we devised Statuario Larissa: this Statuario is quarried in such a way that veins are not just random but do follow a precise inclination between 30° e 45°.
Thus, our challenge did not start with the saw cutting but with the actual quarrying of blocks.
Extending the long tradition on American ingenuity in high-rise construction, the design solution is an innovative mix of architecture, structure, urban design, safety and sustainability. In November 2014 the Council of Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat confirmed that OWTC was the Nation’s tallest building. OWTC has not only restored the NYC skyline but has become a symbol of rebirth for the entire world.
