Carpinus Betulus (Carpino bianco)

Wood turned, polished and treated with microcrystalline wax – with hard and compact woods such as hornbeam, wax gives silkiness to the surface, and a never shameless brightness. Microcrystalline wax has a higher melting temperature than normal wax and does not take fingerprints.

Castanea Sativa (Castagno)

Piece obtained from a table, turned and only brushed. Brushing is particularly effective in aesthetic terms with woods (such as chestnut) that have a different hardness between spring and summer growth, because it can highlight the two types of growth giving a remarkable tridimensionality to the surface.

Fagus Sylvatica (Faggio)

The wood has been exposed to the weather for a few months in order to be attacked by moulds and fungi that change its original appearance. It is said “spalted” in English, that is to say simmered (if we consider it a defect) or flowery (if it is done on purpose). The surface has been finished with gouges so as to form a series of light grooves intertwined, almost like in a wicker basket and then brushed, the piece has no finish.

Pyrus Communis (Pero)

The tree had died from an attack of insects, the surface was scratched/ engraved, brushed and then treated with vaseline oil – it is a new process designed by the craftsman; the surface processing will be called Scr/Etched
